At the UN General Assembly meeting, 'Healthy Women, Healthy children: Investing in our Common Future', the Government of Nepal committed to further reduce financial barriers facing the poor and to quickly scale up free maternity services to meet the increased demand, enabling 1.5 million women to have a safer delivery over the next 5 years. In addition, the Government committed to improving the governance of the sector and equity of delivery to ensure that resources get to those in need. How could the implementation and effectiveness of these commitments be monitored?
