ExplanationsHSS refers to health systems strengthening.  This action refers to discussions underway for GAVI, GFATM and the World Bank to identify a common platform or joint approach to providing financial assistance to countries for health systems strengthening.
Background
In recent years there has been growing concern that the achievement of the health MDGs will not be met if there is not signficant investment in building health systems to deliver health sevices to people.  GAVI and GFATM have recently started to provide financial assistance for health systems strengthening.  The objective is to improve coordination and harmonise approaches.
