  • Test ways to link support to achieving results at country level. 
  • Invest in learning to ensure linkages between our support and results. 
  • Strengthen communication and coordination with key stakeholders. 
  • Monitor all grants for consistency with implementing the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness. 
  • Use common progress and results frameworks. 

 

Specific Actions

 

  • Improvement the quality of harmonised technical cooperation to strengthen the national capacity for better health outcomes. 
  • In 2009, pilot a new approach to funding and monitoring in a number of IHP+ countries, starting with Ethiopia and Mozambique.
  • Continue efforts to develop new lifesaving technologies. 
  • Document and communicate successful case studies. 
  • Locate senior staff skilled in health systems strengthening implementation in Ethiopia, Mali, Mozambique and Nepal (in 2009) and other IHP+ countries through 2011. 
  • Determine detailed plans for funding stronger health information systems. 
  • Implement and report on a single results based framework for the HSDP. 
  • Improve our information management system for financial and technical reporting. 
  • Strengthen monitoring and evaluation and reporting using Performance Appraisal Frameworks for health and HIV/AIDS; establish strong linkages between health and HIV/AIDS PAFs and use these as  the monitoring tools for reviewing performance.
