Hi Martin - is this just a list of commitments from country compacts? Or from the global compact too? The reason I ask is that I asked Laura to compile a list of these commitments for each Results Area, and we need to either link them together or use the one which is most comprehensive (there's a specific purpose I need it for). Please can you let me know

Hi, thanks for managing an extremely useful website! Could you describe the main differences between the country compacts and the more traditional SWAp? I understand that the country compacts are for the IHP signatories, but are there any tangible differences? The IHP + website says that the country compacts are a new business model building on learnings from SWAp, but I haven't found any more information than that.

Thanks for the comment Patrick. The IHP+ is a process that is

designed to support the implementation of aid effectiveness principles

(based on the Paris Declaration), in order to accelerate progress

towards achieving the health MDGs. One of the key principles is

supporting country ownership, and so there is no prescription for an

IHP+ Country Compact - which makes it difficult to categorically

state what the differences are between Compacts and SWAps.

You are right that they aim at the same outcome - better harmonisation

and alignment of Development Partner support, behind country-led plans

and budgets, using country systems. For me, the main difference is

that the IHP+ reinvigorates the political momentum behind these

behaviour change processes, and provides (through the IHP+Results) an

independent assessment that can help strengthen accountability for

implementation of the commitments made in IHP+ Compacts. The findings

of IHP+Results will be discussed at Ministerial level on an annual

basis.

Different countries are approaching IHP+ Country Compacts in different

ways. The IHP+ Core team has produced some guidance on IHP+ Compacts
